Overmono is the acclaimed Welsh electronic music duo composed of brothers Ed Russell, known individually as Tessela, and Tom Russell, who operates under the aliases Truss and MPIA3. Hailing from the Monmouth suburb of Overmonnow, which lends its name to their collaborative project, the duo has forged a distinct identity in contemporary electronic music. Their sound is a sophisticated amalgamation of diverse influences, skillfully weaving elements of atmospheric ambient textures, intricate breakbeat rhythms, and the propulsive energy found in UK garage and broader EDM. This fusion results in a signature style characterized by finely crafted percussive patterns, expansive melodies, and a deep, immersive sonic landscape, building upon their individual reputations for inventive production while creating something uniquely Overmono. The brothers' ability to blend their sometimes harder-edged solo aesthetics with a more emotionally resonant, melodic sensibility defines their collaborative output. Overmono's work frequently appears on their own independent label, Poly Kicks, which they utilize to showcase their evolving sound. Furthermore, they have garnered significant international attention through releases on prominent imprints such as XL Recordings and Dekmantel, showcasing their broad appeal. Their consistent output demonstrates a nuanced and forward-thinking approach to electronic music, solidifying their position as a respected and influential act within the modern electronic music scene.
